Henry Wellge’s “View of the City of Tacoma, W.T.” shows the city at the time when the old settlement consolidated with the new in anticipation of the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad. The inset shows the view in the opposite direction, looking towards Mt. Tacoma. A large, detailed view of this port city on Puget Sound in what was then Washington Territory.
