Titled “Imperii Russici et Tartariae Universae,” this map is from Johnaan Baptist Homann’s “Major Atlas Scholasticus”, which was published in Nuremburg. It complements his map of Imperial Turkey, which we also reproduce. The Russian Empire in Europe and Asia is depicted, extending as far east as China and Japan. Two decorative cartouches embellish the borders.
