Historic Urban Plans

One of three American city views published in the “London Magazine” in 1761 and 1762, this attractive panorama was based on a much earlier engraving by William Burgis showing the city in 1716 and published a few years later. Views of Philadelphia and Charleston are similar in character and were also prepared by Historic Urban Plans from larger and earlier versions. Original engravings for these smaller facsimiles were made available through the courtesy of The Old Print Gallery of Washington, D.C.
