Historic Urban Plans

Drawn and published by William Burgis sometime in 1719-21, this four-sheet view was engraved in London by John Harris. The artist depicted the city with the Battery at the left and the buildings lining the East River extending northward to the right. Similar multi-sheet panoramas of Boston, Philadelphia and Charleston are available from Historic Urban Plans. Those of Boston and Philadelphia are also available in reduced sizes on single sheets.
