Historic Urban Plans

Both Edenton and New Bern served as colonial capitals of North Carolina and were communities of similar size. C.J. Sauthier’s surveys of the two towns are superb examples of cartographic art as well as valuable historical evidence of urban development. Both are reproduced by permission of the trustees of the British Library where the originals are located.
