Historic Urban Plans

Buffalo was planned in 1804 by Joseph Ellicott in imitation of the earlier plan of Washington D.C. which his brother had drawn in 1792. The first design for Buffalo appears in an insert plan on this print reproduced from O’Callaghan’s Documentary History of the State of New York.
