Edenton Date: 1769
Both Edenton and New Bern served as colonial capitals of North Carolina and were communities of similar size. Sauthier's surveys of the two towns are superb examples of cartographic art as well as valuable historic evidence of urban development.

Erie Date: 1836
Planned by Andrew Ellicott in the late 18th century under the direction of public officials, Erie was one of several towns in the western part of Pennsylvania founded on sites owned by the state. Ellicott divided its grid plan into three identical sections to provide for orderly growth.

Florida, Cuba, and The Bahamas Date: 1564
Jacques Le Moyne's early map of the Southeast as engraved by Theo-dore de Bry in 1591 appeared in de Bry's Collectiones Peregrinationum In Indiam Ori-entalem et Indlant Occidentalem. It is one of the landmark maps in American cartography, giving dozens of early place-names and providing a vivid depiction of the region.

Florida, Cuba, and The Bahamas Date: 1794
This splendidly detailed sailing chart was issued by William Faden in London to record the surveys by Charles Roberts and George Gauld. It is one of the earliest printed maps to show the Florida Keys accurately. Many soundings in that area and for the several islands of the Bahamas provided useful information for navigation in those difficult waters.

Fort Caroline Date: 1671
The French Huguenot settlement in Florida of 1564 is depicted in this view from Montanus, De Nieuwe en Onbe-kende Weerld. Fully colored in delicate tones, this reproduction is both highly decorative and historically informative.
