In September 1781 French forces under Rochambeau were in Williamsburg preparing to join Gen. Washington’s troops for the siege of Yorktown. This manuscript of the town and vicinity at that time was drawn by a French military cartographer the following year. Our fully colored facsimile is one-half the size of the original.
