Philadelphia 1754

$125.00

At the request of Thomas Penn, proprietor of Pennsylvania, the artist George Heap created this large view of Philadelphia, which was sent to Penn by Nicholas Scull, the Surveyor General of Pennsylvania. The drawing was engraved and printed in London from four copper-plates. It shows such landmarks as Christ Church, the State House (Independence Hall), Academy, Presbyterian Church, Dutch Calvinist Church, the Courthouse, Quaker Meeting House, and High Street Wharf. The four-sheet Scull and Heap view is extremely rare, as is the reduced size version published as a single sheet. Historic Urban Plans offers both.

Size: 22 3/4 x 77 3/4 inches when joined – Set of four sheets – Black & White, Cover-stock Paper
