In 1786 Judge William Cooper planned this town on Otsego Lake in New York. Here his son, James Fenimore, wrote many of his novels, and Abner Doubleday originated the game of baseball. L. R. Burleigh’s charming toned lithograph shows the community as seen from the northeast.
The museum quality edition of this view is printed on a heavy, cover stock paper to highlight the lines and shading of this fine lithograph.
